What math can teach us during this unique (pandemic) era?

Math teaches us LIFE.

Besides the dy and dx moment, generally we all have been using the addition, subtraction, multiplication and division in our daily life, correct?

First of all, there is this very interesting book I picked up sometimes ago which the title is

“Man VS Maths” — Understanding the Curious Mathematics that Power Our World by Timothy Revell.

Did you realise that Mathematics is inescapable. Wherever you go, whatever you do, however you live your life, mathematics plays a role.

I am going to uncover with you further on how the laws of mathematics are actually teaching us all these while, and it has become more profound during this global crisis time.

There are three key mathematical fundamentals that taught us about life

Number One : Negative (-) Negative (-) is always what?
Yes, we all know the answer negative negative equals to POSITIVE.

we always know (-) (-) = (+), don’t we?

This law simply means things can’t get any more worse. Be it the U-shape recovery or V-Shape recovery, the perspective here is that, when one goes low, another one will go high.

NEGATIVE + NEGATIVE = POSITIVE.

And the answer is DEFINITIVE. We know it when we are doing our math questions, we know it for sure that this can’t go wrong. And you know you are getting the correct answer once you apply this formula.

Same goes to life and living right now, we just KNOW that it is going to be alright again because it has been the worst we have seen and experienced, what we can anticipate and expect ahead would be the positive news the economy boom time, the flourishing time will come, it will just come.

So number one law of math has taught us to be definite when we have identified the correct formula in this context! This formula has shown us the answer is going to be POSITIVE.

Get it?

Number Two: We have always been constantly solving and finding the X in the equation, remember, the annoying UNKNOWN. The X, what is the X?

it’s always working out the math to find out the X, once we understand the formula.

In high school, we do always have to find the X. familiar? Can you recall it now?

No matter how, you will just sit there for hours to keep trying until you find the X.

This has shown us that we all have that curiosity to find a way out! Isn’t it. We all have that ability to solve the problem by trying countless times to learn how to understand and how to apply the formula in order to get the answer. We enjoyed the satisfaction once we found the answer correctly, can you recall the feeling of getting it right? That is exactly what you needed to understand for this number two law of mathematics.

We have that innate problem-solving mentality and capability that have been built and developed throughout those past years. You just have to be reminded about it because you already have it in you the spirit of finding the X!

We all do know how to solve the unknown. So even though currently we are facing the so-called unprecedented human tragedy or pandemic, we have that innate ability to solve the problem in the end. So be reassured that we are altogether going to solve this big Math (big mess) and get to the right answer and found the vaccine for it!

Number Three: Probability teaches us how to Embrace.

Take a chance, roll the dice!

The more we do it, the more chances we are going to get it. Along the process, we are learning how to embrace the challenges, we learn how to accept the outcome after we have given in all that we have.

Law of probability has shown us classically that we do have choices and chances, the only condition is that we have to keep trying by applying the right law in the set of probabilities.

The Great Wisdom of the outcomes of (Probability)
The greatest thing about probability, it gives us humans the set of data that we need in order to observe the “pattern” of certain things. Once we are getting more familiar with the pattern, we then are able to make more accurate decisions that lead us to our desired outcomes.

The more we experience it, the more chances we are going to know about how we are going to handle the situation, albeit how difficult it may seem in the very beginning when we face it.

So, are you ready to keep tossing the coins? The question here is, what sort of datas you are collecting and what pattern of the outcomes you pay attention to!

Enjoy solving math questions in life, not just the formula but the great wisdom we have been overlooking.
